Zelma Viola Holt, 97, a resident of Cleveland, gained her wings on Thursday, February 25, 202. She had lived here her entire life, and was of the Christian faith.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Chassie Trotter; first husband, George Mondy; second husband, John Holt; son, John “Boogie” D. Holt; grandchild, James “Tooter” M. Cheatham; and sister, Georgetta Black.
She is survived by her children; Donald Ray Mondy and wife, Myrna of Ooltewah, Connie Chambers of Cleveland; grandchildren, John Loach and wife, Teri of Cleveland, John Dickenson Holt III of Chattanooga, TN, Adrian Holt of Ringgold, GA, and Donald Mondy; great-grandchildren, Brandon Loach, Jordan Burse, and Jaden Holt; several nieces and nephews also survived.
A celebration of her life will be conducted on Tuesday, March 2, 2021 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Homer Roberts officiating. Interment will follow at Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with Jake Stone, Donald Mondy, Bradon Loach, John Loach, Franklin Banther, and Jason Lenker serving as pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony and the playing of bagpipes will conclude the service.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
