William Bedford Campbell, 91, a resident of Cleveland, passed away December 11, 2024. He was born on February 28, 1933, at 3:33 a.m. at the family farm on Varnell Road, Bradley County. He was the son of the late John A. and Martha Campbell. He was educated in the Bradley County School system and attended Old Cleveland College in Cleveland, OH. For many years he was an active member of First Baptist Church of Cleveland and the Koinonia Sunday School Class, as well as the Adult 6 Sunday School Class. He was a member for 50 plus years of Masonic Lodge #134, Chattanooga Valley of Scottish Rite and the Alhambra Temple. He served as president of Main Street Cleveland, Trustee of the Elks Lodge and a member of the Cleveland Country Club.
Mr. Campbell retired in 1984 as vice president of sales at North America Philips. He held many offices with Philips, moving from Cleveland to Cincinnati, OH, Cleveland, OH, Chicago, IL and back to Knoxville, TN. He founded the Bradley Factor in 1988 and operated it until 2004. He also owned the Bedford Group and founded Campbell Properties L.P.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Evelyn Marie Cox Campbell, and daughter Kimberly Gutman of Orlando, FL. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Winston Robert Campbell, John Edward Campbell and John Franklin Campbell, as well as sisters, One Scudder, Sarah Gilstrp, Betty Arts, Nell Dickenson and Sherley Finnell.
He is survived by his wife Margaret Ann Campbell; son William S. Campbell (Debbie) of Ooltewah; Grandchildren, Steve Campbell, Jr. (Lara), Matthew Campbell (Sarah), Maggie (Brian) Wallace; Nathan West (Corrina), and Dylan Gutman (Shannon), as well as 8 great grandchildren (Brooke, Connor, Audrey, Colin, Carly, Magnis, Isla and Evie). He is also survived by Margaret's children and grandchildren, Tracy Stephens (Patrick, Erin and Emma), Wade (Gina, Ashley, Katie, and Gillian), Zach (Nicole, Lincoln and Parker), sons-in-law, Stan Gutman and Charles West.
A private family and close friends visitation and funeral service will be held at Poole Funeral Home with a graveside service to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Pastor Tom Wickes officiating. Steve Campbell, Jr., Matt Campbell, Nathan West , Dylan Gutman, Wade Suits and Zach Suits will serve as pallbearers.
