Vernon Leroy Mooneyham

Vernon Leroy Mooneyham, 84, passed away Thursday, April 13, 2023, at his home with his family by his side. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and a proud veteran of the United States Navy. He attended Antioch Baptist Church. He had lived in this area his entire life and was owner and operator of Mooneyham Refrigeration and Air Conditioning.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lynn Mooneyham and Marie King Mooneyham-Crittenden; his brother, Olan Mooneyham; and a daughter-in-law, Bylynda Peters Mooneyham.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Elizabeth Jean Mooneyham; his children, Brian Mooneyham (Karen) of McDonald, Joey Mooneyham of Riceville, and David Mooneyham (Peggy) of Cleveland; a brother, Harold Mooneyham (June); two sisters, Charlotte Ball and Rhonda Mooneyham; six grandchildren, Megan Mooneyham Strawbridge (Scott), Sara Mooneyham Cross (Nick), Houston Mooneyham, Kara Mooneyham Baker, Emily Mooneyham, and Jacob Mooneyham; and one great-grandchild, Jace Baker.

A celebration of his life will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 18, 2023, in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Reverend Jack Martin and Reverend Jeremy Snyder (delivering words from Reverend Richard Snyder) officiating.

Interment will be conducted on Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. in Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery with Blake Johnson, Jack Mooneyham, Shane Alvey, Hagan Scoggins, Scott Strawbridge, and Nick Cross serving as pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony and the playing of bagpipes will conclude the service.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 18, 2023, at the funeral home prior to the service.
