Randy Harold Fox

Randy Harold Fox went home peacefully to his Savior, Jesus Christ on November 10th surrounded by his wife and daughter.

Randy honorably served his country in the Vietnam War from 1969-1970. He was with the 23rd Infantry Division 4/21 Big Bad Bravo Co. B. This Band of Brothers has remained family until this day. While in Vietnam he earned the National Defense Service Medal, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Infantry Badge: Marksman (Rifle M-14), Marksman Badge (Rifle M-16), Vietnam Service Medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars and the Bronze Star Medal. Randy was known to keep his fellow soldiers in high spirits, bringing a positive attitude and laughter despite the situation. After Vietnam, he received an associate’s degree in criminal justice from Cleveland State Community College.

Randy served his community in many roles. He was the Assistant to Bradley County Judge Carl Colloms. Randy worked for the Bradley County Road Department under Edd Lewis where he co-authored the County’s first Litter Grant as well as a grant that placed the name of all Bradley County roads at the intersections. Randy served on the Southeast Tennessee Community Service Advisory Board where he was instrumental in the formation of the Southeast Tennessee Community Corrections program for the 10th Judicial District. Randy retired from the United States Postal Service after 31 years.

Randy was a representative of the Class of 1966 at Bradley High School. He took great pride in coordinating events and looked forward to connecting with his classmates. Before his sickness, Randy would be found at the local Hardee's having breakfast with his friends every morning. The family has enjoyed hearing the stories of Randy’s life and the generosity and kindness he showed throughout the community.

Randy was born September 17, 1948. He was of the Baptist faith. He is preceded in death by his parents Horace (Red) and Francis Watson Fox, and his brother, Arthur Fox. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Betty Fox, his daughter Sandy (Paul) Greene and his son, David S. Goins, his grandchildren Nola Greene and Ben Greene and Niece and God Daughter, Daphne (Logan) Fowler. Randy loved his many cousins, brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws and he enjoyed spending time with them. His heartfully adopted parents were Dr. & Mrs. Gene Garner.

Randy was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. He will be remembered for how he loved and cared for his family and friends deeply.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Randy’s memory to the National Medal of Honor Heritage Center in Chattanooga, TN.

Graveside services with Full Military Honors will be held 2:30 p.m.,  Friday, November 15, 2024, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Poole Funeral Home of Cleveland directing. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 15, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Poole Funeral Home & Cremation Services at Cleveland, 3000 Ralph Buckner Blvd, Cleveland, TN.
