Rachel “Sue” Walden, 61, of Cleveland, received her ultimate healing and went to be with the Lord and Savior on Friday, February 18, 2022.
Rachel was born to Rev. William (Bill) and Joyce Curtis on July 18, 1960. She was married to the love of her life Greg Walden for 21 years.
The Lord blessed her with two children, her daughter, Carissa (Peyton) McConnell, and her son, Jeremy Petree. She also had two step-sons, Chris and Jake Walden. Rachel had four grandchildren, Josiah Petree (14), Ridge McConnell (8), Lakely McConnell (6), and Gabe Petree (6). They were the love of her life, the apple of her eye, and the reason she fought so hard. She never failed to put them above herself. She was a very involved and loving “Mamaw.” Rachel enjoyed traveling and Sunday drives with her husband. She especially loved spending the day with her kids, grandkids, and sister at Dollywood.
Rachel loved her church, her job, and her friends. Along with a great devotion to her family, Rachel loved the Lord. Everyone that knew her knew it was her true desire that everyone experience the saving grace of God.
She was preceded in death by her very special father, Rev. William Curtis.
In addition to her mother, husband, children, and grandchildren, she is survived by her brother, Jerry Curtis (Kim), her special sister, Crickett Randolph, Dawn Perry, Lashon Woods (Chris); a special daughter in law, Sarah Czalbowski; several nieces and nephews that she loved like her own; and also many special friends.
A celebration of her life will be held at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at South Cleveland Church of God with Pastors Edwin Lipsey and Chris Moody officiating.
The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday prior to the service at the church.
A graveside service will be held at 11a.m. on Thursday, February 24, 2022 at Sunset Memorial Gardens with words by Tim Walden and Jacob Holmes. Josiah Petree, Peyton McConnell, Drake Perry, Will Perry, Chris Walden, Jake Walden, and Aaron Hyden will serve as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony and the playing of bagpipes will conclude the service. Family and friends will meet at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. to go in a processional to the cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the Celebrate Recovery Fund at South Cleveland Church of God, 1846 Volunteer Drive, SW, Cleveland, TN 37311-8160.
