Mary Rathbone

Mary Margaret Pyle Rathbone, 94, of Cleveland, passed away Monday, February 14, 2022 in a local hospital. She was a member of South Cleveland Church of God. She loved to sing, and sang in the church choir since she was 11 years old. She also loved to play the piano. Her hobbies included cross stitching, knitting, picture puzzles, and crossword puzzles.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ernest “Easy” Rathbone and her parents, Luther and Effie Bennett Pyle.

She is survived by her four children, David Rathbone and wife, Ayalyn of Cleveland, Steven Rathbone and wife, Dina of Chattanooga, Kerry Rathbone and wife, Gale of Brandon, FL and Sherry Smith and husband, Jerald of Titusville, FL; 13 grandchildren, Chad Rathbone, Travis Rathbone, Brandon Rathbone, Brittany Bryan and husband Eric, Lauren Coleman and husband Tommy, Jessica Conti and husband, Joshua, Candace Hatcher and husband Christopher, Amanda Bartlett and Chris Cole, Davin DeLong, Christina Delong, Joann Delong, Nikki Hicks, and Matthew Hicks; four very special great-grandsons, Christian Hatcher, Evan Conti, Nolan Conti, and Isaiah Cole; five very special great-granddaughters, Norah Conti, Harper Hatcher, Cambden Bartlett, Ellie Conti, and Kimberly Conti; one very special little boy Jacob David Rathbone; she is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and many friends.

A celebration of life will be conducted on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at South Cleveland Church of God with Pastor Edwin Lipsey officiating. Interment will be held on Thursday, February 17, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at Chattanooga National Cemetery with a white dove release ceremony, and the playing of bagpipes.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at the church prior to the service.
