Lowell Kirkwood Timmons, Sr. (Kirk)
August 14, 1942 - September 28, 2024
Kirk Timmons passed away peacefully, with his beloved wife of sixty years by his side, at their home in Cleveland, Tennessee, on September 28th of 2024.
Born in Circleville, Ohio on August 14, 1942, he was the youngest child of Robert James Timmons and Betty Rae Brown. Along with Kirk’s brother, James Robert, the family moved to Hollywood, Florida in 1954. Kirk graduated from South Broward High School in 1961 and met Beverly Ann Patrick in 1963 at Broward Junior College. Kirk and Beverly married at the home of Ruth Estelle Patrick, Beverly’s mother, on July 10, 1964. The couple welcomed their first child, Lowell Kirkwood, Jr, into the world in 1966, followed by their only daughter, Melinda Elizabeth, in 1970, and finally their baby boy, Patrick Michael, in 1972.
In 1979, Kirk and Beverly purchased a beautiful plot of land in the hills of Cleveland, Tennessee, where they would spend the rest of their lives together. As a mechanic, electrician, computer programmer, and woodworker, Kirk designed and built a home that would hold memories for generations to come. The doors of the Timmons Family Home were always open to friends and family alike. The couple loved hosting company and keeping their parents, children, and grandchildren close. Kirk worked for M&M Mars as an electrician and computer programmer for twenty-six years while he, Beverly, and Ruth raised the three children in Cleveland.
Not only was Kirk tremendously intelligent and hardworking, but he was intensely witty and creative. Kirk was never still and spent all of his free time making or fixing things for others. Even as his health declined, his family could barely keep him out of his workshop. A humble and headstrong man, Kirk was proud to be the one people came to for help, although tough to accept any himself. To the untrained eye, he was solemn and of few words, but those who knew him best know just how warm and silly he could be.
A fiercely devoted husband and father, Kirk found his next joy in his grandchildren, Brandy Keaton (Bobby), Acea Timmons, Gabrielle Clark (Daniel), Jordan Timmons (Graicyn), Bailey Timmons, Katelyn Kowalski, and Robert Kowalski, all of whom he helped raise in the Timmons Family Home. He had a special bond with each and every one.
Kirk was preceded in death by his parents, Robert, Betty, and Ruth, brother James, sister in-law Diane, nephew David, and daughter in-law Pamela (Lowell, Jr). His loyal Weimaraner, Gracie, no doubt, met him with wagging tail and escorted him to this long-awaited family reunion.
Left to carry on his legacy are his beloved wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, Christian, Matthew, Aiden, Maci, Gunner, Wylder, and Annabell. It was Kirk’s biggest wish that there would more great-grandchildren to come.
There will be no public service. The family will host a private Celebration of Life at the Timmons Family Home. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to The Salvation Army or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
