Daniel “Danny” Lee Casteel
Daniel “Danny” Lee Casteel, 71, a lifetime resident of Cleveland, passed away Sunday,
November 27, 2022 at a local hospital. Danny was a member of First Baptist Church,
where he served as a Greeter and was a member of Maple Street Baptist Church for 52
years and served as Youth Leader, Trustee, and Building & Grounds Committee. He was
a graduate of Cleveland High School, and the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
He was a veteran of the US Army. He was a retired teacher from Bradley Central High
School and retired from M&M Mars as a Quality Systems Scientist. He was a loving
husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Danny’s hobbies included running, golfing and
spending time with his family; but his favorite hobby was being “Papa” to his
grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Lee and Emma Moore Casteel; his
brother, Douglas Lamont Casteel; and his brother-in-law, Vance Walker.
He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Janice Casteel; two children, Rockford Lee
Casteel and wife, Jessica, of Harrison, Tennessee, and Daniel Blake Casteel of Cleveland;
five grandchildren, Cailyn Scott and husband Stephen, Mason Casteel, Easton Casteel,
Zachary Casteel, and Jackson Casteel; one great-grandchild, Owen Scott; and a sister,
Carol Walker (Joey Hawkins), of Cleveland and nephews Casey Casteel and James
Casteel, sons of Douglas Casteel. Danny’s extended family include Sister and Brother-in-
law Debbie and Chuck Beshears (Jackie and Timmy Goins, Marley Flowers, and Charlie
Beshears), Brother and Sister-in-law Bobby and Vicki Dunn (Mike Dunn and Brett Dunn),
Sister and Brother-in-law Sue and Spencer Evans (Jenny and Brian Burdette and Jamie
and Jerry Koski), Sister-in-law Linda Cross (Richmond and Missy Flowers), Sister and
Brother-in-law Dot and Ralph Harris who are deceased (Lee and Pam Harris, Julie and
Adam Galloway) Brother-in-law Bill Dunn who is deceased (Tim Dunn and Kelly Forgey),
Uncle J. E. Swanson, as well as so many special great nieces and nephews, his good
friend Bobby Kessler and his two “BCHS brothers” Rob Parker and Paul Shull.
A celebration of his life will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 4, 2022, in
the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home and Crematory, with Paul Shull, Rob Parker,
and Rev. Alan Stewart and Tom Wickes officiating.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the funeral home, prior to the
service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to First Baptist
Church Building Fund, 1275 NE Stuart Rd, Cleveland TN 37312
