Claude Eugene Haggard

On May 27 th , 2023, Claude Eugene Haggard departed this life to step into eternity with his Lord

and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was with his beloved wife, Gail, and was surrounded by his children,

brothers and many others. Claude was looking forward to the reunion with those that have gone on

before. He spoke often of seeing his loving parents, Leonard and Betty Haggard again.

Claude was born on June 28, 1948 as the firstborn son to Leonard and Betty Haggard. They added two

more sons, Michael and Larry (Cherie) and a cousin that they recognized as a son, Ronnie (Barbara)

Nelson. There home was filled with love and laughter and the guiding hand of Jesus.

Claude welcomed two children of his own. James Carroll (Shane) and Joy Nicole (Denny) Heddleson

were his everything. Later in life, he inherited five more children when he married Gail and he loved

each of them as if they were his own (Darryl, Eric, Todd, Marc and Lauren).

His favorite role in life was being Papa to dozens of grandchildren and great grandchildren. There was

rarely a day when a toddler was not sitting on his lap as mowed the grass or standing beside him as he

planted the garden. So many life lessons were learned as he showed with his actions was it meant to be

a husband, a son, a father and a grandfather.

Papa was a man of many talents. He played a mean guitar and sang with a wonderful tenor voice; but,

his main gift was his ability to put anyone at ease at any time. He never met a stranger and everyone

who ever knew him loved him. You just could not help it.

Selfless giving of his time, of his resources, of his knowledge and his love were the hallmarks of his life.

Using Christ as the example, he followed the narrow way, secure in his salvation and telling others about

the great gift he had received. The world has lost a great man; but, his legacy lives on in the family and

friends that he touched along the way.

A Memorial Service will take place at his home on June 10th, 2023 at 1:00 PM.
