Bobbie Lou Shelton Jenkins, 78, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Saturday, December 19, 2020 at a local healthcare facility surrounded by her family. She was born on December 7, 1942 in the White Oak community of Bradley County to Robert and Ida Mae Millard Shelton. Bobbie had worked for almost 27 years at Mallory Battery/Duracell when she retired in 2004. She was of the Baptist faith and a member of First Baptist Church and Beecher Hunter’s Sunday School Class.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Afton Edward Jenkins; and her grandson, Miles Jacob Edward Jenkins.
She is survived by her son, Donald E. Jenkins and wife Wendy of Cleveland; her daughter, Kimberly D. Jenkins McMillian and husband Jason of Dayton, TN; grandson, Jonah Jenkins of Murfreesboro, TN; sister, Sara Ann Henry of Cleveland; three sisters-in-law; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews also survive.
A celebration of her life will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home and Crematory with Reverend David Evans and Reverend Donnie Jenkins officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with a white dove release ceremony and the playing of bagpipes concluding the service.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday prior to the service.
