Ann “Nonnie” Mae Herod Travis

Ann “Nonnie” Travis, 103, a longtime resident of Cleveland, passed away Saturday, March 4, 2023 at a local healthcare facility with her family by her side. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great great-grandmother, and was a 30-year member of Bowman Hills Seventh Day Adventist Church. She proudly contributed to the war effort in a “Rosie the Riveter” capacity during WWII, in California. She was retired from bookkeeping at Philips Electronics and Chemical, and was known to always be the life of the party.  Ann was an accomplished seamstress, and loved to knit and crochet, making many articles for her grandchildren. She was a constant reader, and loved to travel.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bradford and Martha Herod; four brothers, Victor Herod, Edmund Herod, Jerry Herod, and Vernon Herod; and three sisters, Marie Serrone, Mildred Gilreath, and Margaret Fleming.

She is survived by her daughter, Martha Leek of Cleveland; one brother, Gene Herod of Chattanooga; four grandchildren, David Brazier, Jon Brazier (Betty), Elizabeth Marchant, and Laura Munck (Arthur); 19 great grandchildren; and 19 great great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 10, 2023 at Collegedale Cemetery Dwight Herod officiating with Caleb Byars, Caleb Prytherch, James Munck, Stephen Munck, William Munck, Carter Pierce, Wesley Munck, and Jonathan Munck serving as pallbearers.  

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 9, 2023 at Ralph Buckner Funeral Home and Crematory.
