Cathy C. Kirkpatrick, 51, a resident of McDonald, went home to be with her Lord and Savior at 12:47a.m. Friday, April, 29, 2005. She left the bonds of this world from a Chattanooga hospital surrounded by her loving family and close friends. She was a wonderful wife, devoted mother, and caring daughter. Ms. K, as she was lovingly known by her students and coworkers, completed over 24 years of service for the Bradley County School System as an elementary teacher at Oak Grove and Prospect. Lung cancer cut her career short but could not diminish her compassion and love for her students and friends. She was an active member of the Ooltewah Baptist Church until her illness limited her attendance. Her desire to serve the Lord remained as an unquenchable fire even though the numerous treatments and procedures racked her physical body. She was quick to share her faith to all that were willing to listen. Ms. K was preceded in death by her father, Charles William Housley. She is survived by her beloved husband of 27.5 years, Marvin Kirkpatrick; her loving children, Joshua and Melissa Kirkpatrick; her caring mother, Ellen Housley; two sisters and their families, Beverly and Robert Teague; Angela and David Coffey with children, Megan and Jordan; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, James and Gladys Kirkpatrick. The family would like to express their appreciation to the faculties and staffs of the Oak Grove Elementary School, Waterville Community Elementary Schools, the Bradley County Schools Central Office staff, the Bradley County Board of Education for their support both in prayer and in deed. Another debt of gratitude is owed to the hundreds of prayer partners that prayed for Cathy regularly! May God bless you all!
