Chester G. Pirkle, age 81, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2006 in a local healthcare facility. He was a member of First Baptist Church. He was a graduate of Bradley Central High School Class of 1943 and was a former member of the Lions Club. A Cleveland legend, Mr. Pirkle was the manager of the "Spot" for over forty years. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in World War II where he was stationed in the island of Tinian. He participated in the Enola Gay mission that ended World War II in the Pacific. Mr. Pirkle was the son of the late Chester Pirkle, Sr. and Lillian Henderson Pirkle. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Ruth Pierce Pirkle of Cleveland; two sons and spouses: Keith and Savana Pirkle and Mark and Stephanie Pirkle all of Cleveland; four grandchildren: Clint Pirkle of Cleveland, Kacey Schok of Miami, FL, Chelsea Pirkle of Chattanooga and Jennifer Pirkle of Cleveland; two great-grandchildren: Zachary and Brandon Schok of Miami, FL; one niece, Helen Byland of Ft. Myers, FL.
