William Morce "Joker" Day, age 85, a resident of Charleston, TN and formerly of Aurora, IL, passed away Sunday, March 19, 2006 at the home of his daughter, Janet Marcum. He was a veteran of United States Army serving World War II where he participated in the Normandy Invasion. Nay the men forget his courage and the ladies remember his charm. He was preceded in death by his son, Dennis Andrew Day; parents, Grace and William Day; three brothers, Raymond Day, Charles Day and Paul Day all of Illinois. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Jeanette Freeman Day of Charleston, TN; daughter, Janet Lee Marcum also of Charleston, TN; four grandchildren: Willard Marcum, Jr., Sondra Marcum Curry and husband, Earl Curry, Kevin Marcum and fiancée? Randy Hesser all of Charleston, TN, and Brenda Martin and husband Rocky Martin of Cleveland, TN; six great-grandchildren: Christopher and Maria Arroyo, Earl Curry III of Charleston, TN, Dakota and Kyra Martin of Cleveland, TN and Michael Rayburn of Charleston, TN; two sisters: Luella Forgarty of Charleston, TN, Mary Beckendorf of Oswego, IL; two brothers: Hallie Day of Charleston, TN and Roy Day of Paducah, KY; many nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 12 noon Tuesday at the First United Pentecostal Church with Pastor William Robinson and Reverend Stanley Jeter will officiate. Interment will follow in the Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors and a white dove release ceremony concluding the service. Billy Marcum, Earl Curry, Rocky Martin, Joe Day, Jay Day and George Forgarty will serve as pallbearers. .
