John P. Shoemaker, age 87, a resident of Georgetown, passed away Saturday, April 15, 2006 in a local hospital. Before his retirement, he was employed with Allied-Signal. He enjoyed his retirement working on his farm. He was a member of Stanfield Baptist Church. He was the son of the late Henry and Sarah Murphy Shoemaker, and was also preceded in death by a brother, Perry Shoemaker, sister, Annie Reel, and granddaughter, Angela Geren. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, LouVerne Shoemaker of Georgetown; two daughters and sons-in-law: Lucille and Terry Geren of Cookeville, and Hazel and Rickey Brogan of Georgetown; three grandsons: Brad and Nathan Geren of Cookeville, and Joshua Rogers of Georgetown; one granddaughter, Keisha Hubbard of Cleveland; five great-grandchildren: Savanna Geren, Cole Geren, Dylan Dawson, Dakota Dawson and Logan Crumley; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Stanfield Baptist Church with Pastor David Evans officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with his nephews: Sonny Shoemaker, Donnie Shoemaker, David Shoemaker, Mike Hale, Melvin Chadwick and Darryl Works serving as pallbearers.
