Wendell H. Botts, age 84, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Thursday, June 22, 2006 at his home. He was veteran of World War II serving in Europe. He was retired from Magic Chef and was also employed with Cooke?s Food Store on Springplace Road. As a volunteer with the Civilian Conservation Core, he worked in several areas including the Joyce Kilmer National Forest where he helped cut trails. He was a faithful member of Waterville Baptist Church. He was a devoted father and loving grandfather and will be remembered for his willingness to help others. He was the son of the late Walter and Bonnie Tarpley Botts, and was also preceded in death by his brothers: Elmer Botts, Wayne Botts, Walter Botts, Jr., Thomas "Bright" Botts, and sister, Pearl Harris. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Johnie Faye Botts of Cleveland; son, Terry Botts and wife Mary Beth of Cleveland; daughter, Karen Pankey and husband Jason of Benton; granddaughters: Kayla Lawson and Jessica Pankey, both of Benton, Amber Botts and Allison Botts, both of Cleveland; sisters: Nellie Woodall and Irene Alford, both of Rome, GA; special niece: Brenda Woodall; and several nieces and nepews. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Reverend Alan Lovelace officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Tommy Woodall, Joe Jenkins, Larry McGehee, Tony McGehee, Frank Reese and Don Pierce serving as pallbearers.
