David Thompson

December 13, 1932 — June 25, 2006

David "Dave" Thompson, age 73, a resident of Charleston, passed away Sunday, June 25, 2006 in a Knoxville hospital. He was a well known local farmer and a volunteer with the Charleston Volunteer Fire Department for many years. He also served on the Bradley County 911 Board of Directors and the Bradley County Recreation Board. As an outdoor enthusiast, one of his favorite activities was coon hunting. He was the son of the late John H. and Pauline Melton Thompson, and was also preceded in death by his sister, Nellie Key Jones. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Leeta Hamby Thompson of Charleston; five children: John Thompson of Riceville, Tim Thompson of Charleston, Randy Thompson, Pam Lawson and Mike Thompson, all of Cleveland; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Reverend Arnold Hambright officiating. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 p.m. Thursday in Fort Hill Cemetery.
