Jerry Richard Smith

Jerry Richard Smith, age 59, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Thursday, July 13, 2006 at the family residence. He was a member of the Chestuee Baptist Church. He was a school bus driver for Bradley County Schools and owned and operated Smiths Small Engine Repair. Mr. Smith was the son of the late Roy A. and Jo Ella Smith and was also preceded in death by his brother, Dwight Smith and brother-in-law, Donnie Byrd. He is survived by his wife of 41 years Brenda J. Byrd Smith of Cleveland; two children: Jerry Phillip Smith, and Tonya Smith Clemmer and husband, Tim Clemmer all of Cleveland; six grandchildren: Beau Smith, Cory Smith, Tanner Clemmer, Zach Smith, Dewayne Smith and Hunter Smith; one brother, Larry J. Smith of Cleveland; one aunt, Evelyn Haynes of North Carolina; two uncles, Howard T. Smith and wife, Catherine Smith of Cleveland and Kenneth Smith and wife, Gertrude Smith of South Carolina. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Reverend Ray Higgins and Reverend Jerrell Fowler officiating. Interment will follow in Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery with the white dove release ceremony concluding the service. Matt Smith, Jeff Gobble, Joe Gobble, Chris Stinnett, Robbie Stepp and Paul Elrod, Jr. serving as pallbearers. His family will receive friends from 5-9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
