Johnny Franklin Woodby, age 72, a resident of Sweetwater, passed away Monday, July 24, 2006 in a local hospital. He was a member of the Concord United Methodist Church. He was a self employed farmer who enjoyed helping others. He was a veteran of the United States Airforce. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nicky Gilroy Woodby and his father Jesse Alonzo Woodby. He is survived by his mother, Estelle Woodby of Sweetwater; five children: Steve Woodby of Miami, FL, Lonnie Woodby of Ocklawaha, FL, Robin Allen and husband, John Allen of Etowah, Terri Goodner and husband, Stan Goodner of Loxahatchee, FL and Leslie Derrick and husband, Bill Derrick of Cleveland; seven grandchildren: Nikki Woodby, John Woodby, Shaun Allen, Dyan Winters, Kelly Macy, Cody Derrick and Blake Derrick; two great-grandchildren; two sisters: Lonelle Forkner of Summerville, GA and Patsy Lynch of Sweetwater. Funeral services will conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home. The eulogy written by Clifford Lynch will be presented at the service. Interment will follow in Decatur City Cemetery with military honors. Shaun Allen, John Woodby, Kevin Winters, Arthur Cox, Larry Fortner and Jeffrey Fortner will serve as pallbearers. His family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
