Alex Damron

Alex Damron, Jr., age 81, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Saturday, August 12, 2006 in a local hospital. He was a member of Westwood Baptist Church. A Marine?s Marine, he was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp serving from 1943 to 1963. He served in World War II in the South Pacific and in the Korean War. He was employed with the U.S. Postal Service in Taylor, Michigan for thirteen years. He worked with Phillips Real Estate in the 1980?s and also for H & R Block for three years. Mr. Damron was the son of the late Alexander and Myrtle Stephens Damron and was also preceded in death by an infant son. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Delores A. Damron of Cleveland; five children and spouses: Debra Ploucha of Melvindale, MI, Bill and Susan Damron of Acworth, GA, Barbara and Michael Partlow of Cleveland, Matthew and Terry Damron of Cleveland, Patsy and Greg Hicks of Cleveland; twelve grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; seven siblings: Eloise Weeden of Anderson, S.C., Wanless Damron of Rockledge, FL, Rondell Gene Damron of Lexington, KY, Gail Stewart of Simpsonville, S.C., Glenna Fay Spears of Mauldin, S.C., Carol Sims of Hobart, IN and Laverne Swiger of Mauldin, S.C.; three special friends, Warren and Cleyta Andrews and Erma Noe all of Cleveland; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Caywood and Pastor Steve Grubbs officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with military honors. The United States Marines will serve as pallbearers. Sons, grandsons and son-in-law will serve as honorary pallbearers. His family will receive friends 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Shenandoah Boys Ranch, 138 Osment Road SE, Cleveland, Tennessee 37323.
