Laverna G Arms

Laverna G. Arms, age 87, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Saturday, September 16, 2006 in a Chattanooga hospital. Known to everyone as "Granny", she was a prayer warrior and a true hero of the faith to her family and friends. She had lived in the Cedar Springs Community most of her life and was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church. She was the daughter of the late Roy L. and Lillie Holmes McClure and was also preceded in death by her husband, Reverend Ernest Arms, one daughter, Sue Moore, one son, Ernest Lee Arms, one sister, Roxie Carson, and one son-in-law: Dwight Williams. She is survived by two children: Marie Williams of Cleveland, and Jerry Arms and wife Nadine also of Cleveland; seven grandchildren: Dawn Williams, Tami Ward, Gina Arnold, Kim Tucker, Monte Williams, Gilbert Arms and Mitch Moore; and fifteen great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Reverend Wayne Cooper and Reverend W. L. Shipman officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Springs Cemetery with the release of a flock of white doves concluding the service. Chris Arnold, Gilbert Arms, Monte Williams, Roy Sandidge, Mitchell Moore and Gary Tucker will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers include Hayden Lacy, Dennis Sipe, Rev. Bill Smith, Paul Arms and Bob Hollenbeck. Her family will receive friends from 2 ? 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
