William Fletus Dunn, Sr., age 82, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Saturday, September 23, 2006 at his home. He was awarded the Purple Heart during his service with the U. S. Navy in World War II. He was a charter member of Maple Street Baptist Church where he served as a Sunday School Superintendent and Sunday School teacher for many years. Before his retirement he was employed with TVA. He was the son of the late Robert Chester and Zola Woods Dunn and was also preceded in death by his brothers: J. W. Burnette and Fred Tankersley, and sister, Dovie Burnette Pinson. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Betty Dunn of Cleveland; seven children and their spouses: Dot and Ralph Harris of Dalton, GA, William F. Dunn, Jr. and Claudia Dunn of Cleveland, Linda and Ed Cross of Cleveland, Kathleen Susie and Spencer Evans, Jr., of Countryside, IL, Robert and Vickie Dunn of Cleveland, Janice and Danny Casteel of Cleveland, and Deborah and Chuck Beshears of Cleveland; thirteen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Pastor Bryan Mowery officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with the release of a flock of white doves concluding the service. Lee Harris, Richmond Flowers, Mike Dunn, Rocky Casteel, Blake Casteel, Brett Dunn and Tim Dunn will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers include Adam Galloway, Timmy Goins and Brian Burdette. His family will receive friends from 5 ? 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home and also 2 ? 4 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home prior to the service.
