Arthur D Gilbert

Arthur D. Gilbert, age 74, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Monday, November 27, 2006 in a Chattanooga hospital. He was a member of the Heritage Fellowship Church of God. He was the owner and operator of the Village Bake Shop for 45 years. Mr. Gilbert was the son of the late Bradley D. Gilbert I. and Geneva Rose Gilbert and was also preceded in death by one sister, Christine Sisk; three brothers, Wallace Gilbert, Herman Gilbert and Edward Gilbert. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Josephine M. Gilbert of Cleveland; two children: Steve Gilbert and wife Teresa A. Gilbert and Teresa D. Gilbert all of Cleveland; four grandchildren and spouses: Jason and Laura Gilbert, Stephanie Gilbert-Oliver and fiancée Arthur C. Morris, Angel Chandler Kerns and Jeremy Kerns, Justin Dean Mooneyham and fiancée Laura Ledford; five great-grandchildren: Jessica Gilbert, Jacob Gilbert, Kourtney Oliver, Hannah Oliver and Chase Oliver; two brothers, David Gilbert, II and Johnny Gilbert; one sister, Martha Cooley; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 noon on Thursday, November 30, 2006 at the Heritage Fellowship Church of God with his son, Reverend Steve Gilbert officiating. Interment will follow in Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with Reverend T. Paul Patton officiating. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. Roger Gilbert, Larry Gilbert, Eddie Gilbert, Scotty Gilbert, David Gilbert, III, Darrell Gilbert, Duane Gilbert and Greg Cooley will serve as pallbearers. His family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at Ralph Buckner Funeral Home. His family will also receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon on Thursday at the church prior to the service. Memorials may be made to the Heritage Fellowship Church of God Building Fund, PO Box 551, McDonald, Tennessee 37353.
