Essie L Blankenship

Essie L. Blankenship, 84, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Saturday, February 24, 2007 in a local hospital. She was of the Church of God faith. She had served as a dorm keeper for Lee University for several years. Mrs. Blankenship was the daughter of the late Joe and Lela Dunn Adams and was also preceded in death by her husband, Rufus Blankenship. She is survived by a special cousin, Lucille Walker of Cleveland; special friends, David and Cathy Sewell of Cleveland; step brother, Bill Ingram of Cleveland; step sister, Evalee Green of Atlanta, Georgia; several cousins also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Reverend Robert Works officiating. Interment will follow in Ball Play Cemetery in Old Fort with Donnie Waters, Scott McGowen, David Sewell, Mike Watson, David Waters and Claude Hester serving as pallbearers. Her family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
