Mary Oberia Everett Underwood, 80, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Monday, February 26, 2007 at her residence. She attended the Mount Olive Church of God. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW and the American Legion. She was a former employee of Charleston Hosiery Mill, Dana Corporation and was also a caregiver. Mrs. Underwood was the daughter of the late Howard Grant Mahaffey and Mary Ellen Wilson Mahaffey and was also preceded in death by her first husband, Leland Everett, Jr. and her second husband, John L. Underwood. She is survived by her five children: Sylvia Everett Mullinax, Mary Ann Everett Crisp, Leland (Rusty) Everett III, Ernest Preston Everett and Darlene Everett Hall and husband, David Hall all of Cleveland; thirteen grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; siblings: Laverene Cook Gamble of Vonore, Leonard Mahaffey and Grovena Gates both of Cleveland; special friends, Geneva Lowe and Edna Gregg; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home. Her family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Lee Cemetery. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.
