Joseph Johnson

August 18, 1921 — March 6, 2007

Joseph F. (Joe) Johnson, 85, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2007 in a local hospital. He was a member of Chilcutt United Methodist Church where he was the adult Sunday school teacher. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in World War II where he served in the Rhineland and participated in the Battle of the Bulge. Mr. Johnson was a very well known cabinet maker. He was employed with the Hargis Lumber Company from 1945-1969. In 1969 he and his brothers opened the Johnson Brothers Cabinet Shop where he worked until his health failed in April of 2006. He was formerly very active in the Bradley County Republican Party. Mr. Johnson was the son of the late Joe Johnson and Mary Cecil Climer Johnson and was also preceded in death by several brothers and sisters. Survivors include his two brothers: Jennings (Jen) Johnson and Clint E. (Mickey) Johnson both of Cleveland; one sister, Mary Ruth Tinsley of Cleveland; many nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 8, 2007 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Pastor Danny Arp and Pastor Renny Whittenbarger officiating. Interment will follow in Chilcutt Cemetery with a white dove release ceremony concluding the service. His family will receive friends from 5-9 p.m. Wednesday, March 7, 2007 at the funeral home.
