John L. Chapman, age 73, a resident of Bradley County passed away, after a battle with cancer, Thursday, March 15, 2007 in a Chattanooga hospital. He was of the Christian faith. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in Korea. Mr. Chapman enjoyed woodworking, fishing, hunting and farming. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Daniel Chapman and Bertha Mae Turner Chapman. He is survived by four children: Johnny Chapman and wife, Sharon, Sherry Higdon and husband, Johnny, Jerry Chapman and wife, Linda all of Cleveland and Tammy Chapman of Charleston; four grandchildren: Dusty Chapman, Zach Higdon, Ryan Chapman and Ciera Chapman; three sisters: Josephine Price of Metter, GA, Betty Bales of Witicha, KS and Shirley Messenger of Columbus, GA and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Pastor Lee Ingram officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with military honors. Dusty Chapman, Dustin Higdon, David Trew, Rodney Wilson, Ricky Wilson and Bill Carlton will serve as pallbearers.
