Jerry Edward McGowan, age 63, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Thursday, March 22, 2007 at a local hospital. He attended Straightway Baptist Church in Ooltewah. He was part owner of the Sugar and Spice Restaurant and was more recently employed at Old Fort Restaurant. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Betty Carroll McGowan. He is survived by his children and spouses: Jerry C. (Chris) McGowan and Emily Ann of Cleveland, Kimberly Ann Neece of Abingdon, VA, Sherri Renee Napier of Elizabethton, Gari Elizabeth Ensley and John William of Cleveland; former wife and mother of his children, Nancy McGowan Lawson; one brother and spouse, Corky McGowan and Pat; sister and spouse, Sue Webster and Herbie all of Cleveland; nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Reverend James Shackleford officiating. Interment will follow in Hilcrest Memorial Gardens. David Andes, Benji Neece, John Ensley, Scott McGowan, Dax McGowan, Jeremy Napier and Mark Napier will be serving as pallbearers. His family will receive friends from 12 to 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
