The Reverend James Lawrence Hogue, Sr., 83, passed away in Cleveland on Thursday, April 5, 2007. The Reverend Hogue was a retired Presbyterian minister. He served congregations in Indiana, Albuquerque, New Mexico, Cincinnati and Ooltewah, Tennessee. He also served the National Presbyterian Church, U.S.A., as the head of National Missions in Colorado, the Synod Executive of the Synod of the Sierra in California and as the director of the council of Administrative Services in New York City. The Reverend Hogue grew up in Covington, Kentucky, graduated from Maryville College and served as a naval aviator flying off the Midway. Following World War II, he attended Louisville Seminary. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Ethel Park Hogue; his son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Sherry Hogue of Cleveland; his son and daughter-in-law, the Reverend Kelsey and Debbie Hogue of Scottsbluff, Nebraska; his daughter and son-in-law, Kerrilee and Dave Blunt of Sacramento, California; and his daughter, Janeil Hogue of Chattanooga. He is also survived by two granddaughters and their husbands, Christy and Stephen Duncan of Cleveland, and Jamie and Ian Rumsey of Thornton Colorado; three grandsons, Scott Brunson of Sacramento, California, Petty Officer Kelsey Graham Hogue serving in the United States Navy aboard the USS Oklahoma City and David Hogue and his wife, Kristin of Birmingham, Alabama; three great-grandchildren, Jack and Lucy Duncan of Cleveland and Carson Rumsey of Thornton, Colorado. Other survivors include two brothers and sisters-in-law, Dewey and Ruth Hogue of Golden, Colorado, Don and Marilyn Hogue of Cincinnati, Ohio and his sister, Mary Ellen Snook of Lambertville, Michigan; numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Thursday, April 12, 2007 at 6:30 p.m. at Broad Street United Methodist Church in Cleveland. The family will receive friends for visitation at the church following the memorial service.
