James Hanson Hancock

October 5, 1930 — April 6, 2007

James Hancock, 76, a life long resident of Cleveland, went home to be with his Lord on Friday, April 06, 2007 in a local hospital. He loved to share his faith and talk about the Lord. He also loved to play the guitar and sing. He was a member of the Thompson Springs Baptist Church. He was a member of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local # 43. He was a member of the Conasauga Masonic Lodge ?# 396. Mr. Hancock was the son of the late Jim and Lizzie Hancock and was also preceded in death by his siblings, Harry Hancock, Lennie Carson, Fred Hancock and Jack Hancock. Survivors include his beloved wife of 21 years, Pat Hancock of Cleveland; children and spouses: Cheri and David Ellis of Cleveland, David Hancock of Cleveland, Steve and Bonnie Hancock of Fayetteville, Cheryl and Gene Cooper of Cleveland; step son and spouse: Rocky and Gena Corbett of Cleveland; grandchildren: Maggie Ellis, Jilli Ellis, Sara Jo Ellis, Colby Cooper, Myranda Cooper, Tiffany McAlister, Chloe’ Jones, Jake Hancock, Hannah Hancock and William Cooper; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Bessie Burris of Cleveland; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Brother Joe White officiating. Interment will follow in Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery with the white dove release ceremony concluding the service. Jared Arthur, Chris Jones, Jed Arthur, Billy McAllister, Colby Cooper and Tracy Hancock will serve as pallbearers. His family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
