Paul C. Boyd, 92, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Monday, April 9, 2007 in a local hospital. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II in the Aleutian Islands and the Philippines. He was a mechanic with Callaway Motor Company for over thirty years and also worked with Goodner Funeral Home and Calvin Boyd Motor Company. He was a volunteer with the Bradley County Rescue Service for fifteen years. Mr. Boyd was a member of Valley View Baptist Church. He was also an avid hunter and gardener. His parents, Charlie and Lona Ward Boyd, preceded him in death as well as his son, Wayne M. Boyd, and a brother, Norman Boyd. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, J. Louise Officer Boyd of Cleveland; one granddaughter, Laura Boyd Humble and husband John of Cleveland; and one great-granddaughter, Madison Humble of Cleveland. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Pastor Gerald James and Pastor Nolan Phillips officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with Walter "Corky" Scott, Gale Franks, Jerry Elrod, Neil Officer, Aaron Officer and John Humble serving as pallbearers. His family will receive friends from 5 ? 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
