Alicia Jayne Smith

March 30, 1979 — April 11, 2007

Alicia Jayne Thomas Smith, age 28 made her journey to heaven on April 11, 2007. Her mother, sister, brothers and friends were by her side when Jesus wrapped His arms around her. Alicia was a special giving and loving person, even in her death, she gave of herself as an organ donor. She was an accomplished gourmet cook. She will be missed by everyone who knew and loved her. She was a CNA at Brookwood Nursing Facility in Decatur, and was to begin nursing school. She loved everyone she cared for and worked with. She was baptized at Pond Hill Baptist Church. Alicia was preceded in death by her grandfather, M.F. Thomas; uncle, Lewis Thomas and niece, Lynn Clemons. She is survived by her two sons that she loved more than anything in this world, Steven Smith and Zachary Smith; mother, Annita Jayne Thomas; grandmother, Mattie Thomas; sisters: Margery Crumley and husband, Chris and Kymber Thomas; brothers: Glen Byrd and wife, Amanda and Jeff Byrd; uncles: Corky Thomas and wife, Nancy of Old Town, FL, Ladd Clemons of Old Town, FL, and Luther Clemons and wife, Wanda of Lake City, FL; nieces: Haley Crumley and Emily Byrd; nephew, Austin Byrd. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 Wednesday in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Reverend Myles Howard officiating. Interment will follow at Lebanon Baptist Cemetery with Glen Byrd, Jeff Byrd, Chris Crumley, James Brooks, Chris Brown, Joe Garcia, and Keith McPhail serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be staff and residents of Brookwood Nursing Facility. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. Her family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at the funeral home. A memorial service is planned for Monday, April 23, 2007 at 1:30 p.m. at Brookwood Nursing Facility in Decatur. Her family wishes to thank the EMT?s, lifeflight crew, police officers, doctors and nurses who tried to save her.
