Jack Rakestraw, age 70, a resident of McDonald, passed away on April 12, 2007 at the family residence and went home to be with his Lord. He was a resident of McDonald all his life and retired from Economy Honda in Chattanooga. He was an outstanding auto body technician and enjoyed gardening. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bennett D. Rakestraw and Vernice J. Holden Rakestraw and brother, Daniel C. Rakestraw. He is survived by his loving and faithful wife of 50 years, Lorene Dixon Rakestraw of McDonald; three sons: David L. Rakestraw of McDonald, Pat Rakestraw of Etowah and John N. Rakestraw of Cleveland; one daughter, Sue Rakestraw of McDonald; four grandchildren: Sean Rakestraw, Seth Rakestraw, Symara Rakestraw and Baylee Rakestraw; brothers: Mike Rakestraw, Tommy Rakestraw, Steve Rakestraw all of McDonald; sisters: Wilene Clowers, Karen Cross and Martha Goss all of McDonald and several nieces, nephews and cousins. A memorial service will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, April 14, in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Karen Cross officiating. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. His family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday prior to the service.
