Randall (Randy) Ray Hooper, age 54, a lifelong resident of Cleveland, passed away suddenly Friday, April 13, 2007 in a local hospital. He was of the Baptist faith and attended Clingan Ridge Baptist Church. He graduated in 1970 from Bradley Central High School where he was an outstanding baseball player and attended Cleveland State Community College on a baseball scholarship. He worked as a mechanic with Hardwood Frames of America. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Bernola and Jay Hugh Hooper; maternal grandfather, Charlie Sneed; and several aunts and uncles. He is survived by his parents, Ray and Betty Sneed Hooper of Cleveland; son, Brady Hooper of Cleveland; maternal grandmother, Mildred Sneed; stepsons: Matthew Hooper and Joshua Hooper; two sisters and brothers-in-law: Cindy and Tom Helton and Christy and Allen Hartley; brother, Wes Hooper and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Monday in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Reverend Ricky Vaughn and Reverend James Vaughn officiating. Interment will be in the Candies Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with Dale Sneed, Tim Sneed, Tracy Sneed, Danny Sneed, Barry Hooper, Hugh Hooper, Ronnie Hooper and Denny Webb serving as pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. His family will receive friends from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
