Otto Graham Starnes, age 89, a resident of Cleveland for the past 1 ½ years and a former resident of Phoenix, AZ for sixty years, passed away Monday April 16, 2007 at the family residence. He was a member of the Forty-Fourth Street Church of God where he served as Sunday School Superintendent and congregational song leader. Mr. Starnes also served many years on the Board of Directors for the church. He received a 45 year service pin from the Pipefitters Union in Phoenix. Mr. Starnes retired from Thomas Heating and Air-Conditioning where he was the service manager. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Mays Starnes and Mabel Janette (Nettie) Jackson Starnes; wife, Annis Taylor Starnes; brothers: Robert Starnes, Luther Starnes and Donald Starnes. He is survived by his children: Jerry Starnes of Mesa, AZ, Jane Starnes Rose and husband, Charlie of Cleveland, Joe Starnes of Phoenix, AZ and Phyllis Wray of Canon City, CO; grandchildren: Nicole Rose Smith, Christy Rose Viviano, Chad Rose, Scott Starnes, Aaron Starnes, Alex Starnes and Gloria Slade; great grandchildren: Kember Lopez, Zeke Smith and Jaylin Viviano; brother, Dallas Starnes of Mansfield, OH; great great grandchildren; Joel Garcia, Zachary Garcia and Dylan Garcia; sisters: Sue Munsey of Abingdon, VA and JoAnne Smith of Shelby, NC; aunts, Edna Rasnake of Fort Wayne, Indiana and Mary Sutherland of Milton, FL. and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 24, 2007 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Reverend Donald Logan officiating. The service will conclude with a white dove release ceremony on the front lawn. His family will receive friends from 11:00 to 1:00 p.m. Tuesday prior to the service at the funeral home. Funeral services will be conducted in Scottsdale, AZ at 10:00 a.m. Thursday May 10, 2007 in the chapel of Green Acres Mortuary with Chad Rose, Scott Starnes, Aaron Starnes, Alex Starnes, Bard Smith, Jason Viviano, Danny Starnes and Michael Munsey serving as honorary pallbearers. Interment will follow in Serenity Mausoleum at Green Acres Cemetery. His family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday, May 9, 2007 at the funeral home in Scottsdale.
