Richard F. "Dickie" Butler Richard F. "Dickie" Butler, age 82, passed away Wednesday, April 18, 2007 at his home. He was born March 12, 1925 to Charles John and Ruby Butler. He entered World War II in May 1942 serving as a Marine in Iceland, Guam and the Marshall Islands. He was employed with Bowater from the time it was constructed until his retirement in 1988. He was a member of First Baptist Church. Mr. Bultler was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Foote Butler; his parents; sister, Mary Wallace; brothers: Glenn, George, Jack, Harry, Charlie, Arthur and Jerome Butler. He is survived by one son, Richard H. "Ricky" Butler and wife, Susan of Cleveland; one daughter, Susan B. Gamble and husband, John of Spartanburg, SC; four grandchildren: Laura Burns and Michelle Burgess of Spartanburg, SC, Andrew Butler and Cole Butler of Cleveland; six great grandchildren: Jonathan and Justin Burns, Amy Elizabeth Burns, Madison and Mathew Burgess and Michael Burgess and one brother, Robert ?Bob? Butler. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Saturday April 21, 2007 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Reverend Jim Gibson officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Mike Benson, Danny Griffith, Craig Runyon, Barry Turpin, Benny Sellers, Allan Jones, Jim Park, Joe Moore and Royce McBride serving as pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, April 20, 2007 at the funeral home.
