Merlin E Johnson

Merlin E. Johnson, age 91, a resident of Cleveland, passed away April 26, 2007 in a local hospital. He was a member of Washington Avenue Baptist Church. Mr. Johnson was a volunteer with Meals on Wheels for many years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Davenport Johnson; parents, Ernest and Mary Bullington Johnson; brothers: Elvis Johnson, Elzie Johnson, Albert Johnson and Earl Johnson; and sister, Emma Overton. He is survived by his children: Ruth Watts of Tellico Plains; Ellis and Mary Johnson of Evansville, IN, Donnie and Nancy Johnson of Madisonville and Donna and Jerry Sorensen of Cleveland; fourteen grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren and one sister, Ella Johnson of Eldorado, IL. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Reverend Beecher White officiating. Interment will follow at Greasy Creek Cemetery with a white dove release ceremony concluding the service. His grandsons will serve as pallbearers. His family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
