Jesse J. Taylor, 89, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Tuesday, May 08, 2007 at the family residence. He was a devoted grandfather and loved blue grass music and gardening. He was a carpenter by trade. He was a life long member and ruling elder of the Farner Presbyterian Church. He worked for the United States Forest Service serving as a wildland fire fighter for many years during the 40's and the late 60's.. He was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corp serving in World War II in Greenland as a master sergeant. Mr. Taylor was the son of the late Patton Taylor and Florence Morrow Taylor and was also preceded in death by his wife, Vera B. Taylor who passed away in 1997 and several brothers and sisters. Survivors include his three children: Jesse James Taylor, Jr of Denver, Colorado, Richard D. Taylor and Barbara Jean Taylor both of Cleveland; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Edith Walker of Ashville, North Carolina; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. Friday in the Farner Presbyterian Church with Reverend Dwight Millsaps officiating. Interment will follow in Farner Presbyterian Church Cemetery with a white dove release ceremony concluding the service. Jesse Gann, Mike Boggess, Jerry Johnson, Dewey Woody, Bill Tittle and Scott Milsaps will serve as pallbearers. His family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Ralph Buckner Funeral Home and also Friday 5-6 p.m. at the church prior to the service.
