Doris J. Almond, 77, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Monday, June 04, 2007 in a local hospital. She was an active member of First Baptist Church. Doris enjoyed her Red Hat Club friends and their activities. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, but her favorite occupation was that of a doting grandmother. She was a receptionist at Benton Pontiac and had also been employed with Friedman?s Jewelers. Mrs. Almond was the daughter of the late Jess Merriman and Nell Cash Merriman and was also preceded in death by her husband, Lynn H. Almond; brothers: Bobby Merriman, Buddy Merriman, Vernon Merriman and Bill Merriman; sisters: Ruth King and Katherine Rice. She is survived by her daughter, Cindy and husband, Jimmy Logan, and her son, Bruce Almond all of Cleveland; grandchildren: Merri and husband, Tom Scott and Maggie Logan all of Birmingham, Alabama; one sister, Norma Sue Roberts of Ormond Beach, Florida and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 6, 2007 at First Baptist Church with Reverend Alan Lockerman and Reverend Bill Griffith officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with a white dove release ceremony concluding the service. Tony Logan, Adam Lambert, Sam McAmis, Jim Brown, Allen King, Larry King, Randy King, Kenny King and Jerry King will serve as pallbearers. Her family will receive friends from 6-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 5, 2007 at Ralph Buckner Funeral Home. The family will also receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Wednesday at the church prior to the service.
