Juaneta Georgia Johnson England, widow of the late James Luther England, passed away Thursday, July 12, 2007 at her home. A resident of Cleveland for 61 years, in 1964 Mrs. England and her husband, Luther, with much teamwork, became franchisees of Kentucky Fried Chicken. Luther and Juaneta were founding members of the Southeastern Association of Kentucky Fried Chicken Franchisees and spent four decades faithfully serving in various capacities within the organization. She was born at Mouth of Wilson, Virginia, on August 2, 1917, the daughter of Veline Cox Johnson and John Wiley Johnson. As part of the rush to settle the West, her parents moved to McAlester, Oklahoma where she grew up, an only child, on their cattle ranch. With a degree in Home Economics from Oklahoma State University, she later taught the subject at Bradley Central High School in Cleveland. Later, graduate work in the field of Distributive Education at the University of Tennessee allowed her to initiate the teaching of that subject at Bradley Central High in 1963. She took great pride in the accomplishments of her students and particularly enjoyed having them keep in touch. A compassionate teacher, she enjoyed working with young people whether it was her early work in Bradley County with the 4-H Clubs, in teaching her high school students life skills, or in helping young people establish careers in the food service industry. Active in her community, she was a 40 year member of The Cleveland Garden Club, a long-time member of the Cleveland Woman?s Club, and also the Eastern Star. Mrs. England was a 55 year member of Broad Street United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Fealty Sunday School Class. She was also active in Scout leadership and a charter member of the local AARP organization. She was a voracious reader and a member of The Friends of the Library of Cleveland. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Virginia England Kent and James D. Kent of Lake Bluff, Illinois; her two sons and their wives: James L. England, Jr. and Marilyn Acuff England of Gatlinburg, and John W. England and Kathryn Varnell England of Cleveland; sister-in-law, Mrs. J.R. Clancy of Erick, Oklahoma. Also surviving are grandchildren: James D. Kent, Jr. of St. Petersburg, Florida, Ashley Kent Stone of Minnetonka, Minnesota, Alexander E. Kent of Santa Clara, California, Jennifer England Garner of Park City, Utah, James L. England, Jr. of Knoxville, Leia and Clay England of Gatlinburg, Elizabeth Ann (Beth) England of Johnson City, John Curtis and Laura England of Cleveland; and great grandchildren: Ryan Garner, Campbell Garner, Mandy Freels, Lindsey Kent, Melissa Kent, Lily Stone, Nicholas Stone, and Miles Kent. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Reverend Andy Ferguson and Reverend Debbie Stokes officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with grandchildren, family and friends serving as pallbearers. The service will conclude with a White Dove Release Ceremony. Her family will receive friends from 5 ? 7 p.m. Sunday and also 1 ? 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
