Velma M. Stamey, 85, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Monday, July 23, 2007 in a local hospital. She attended the Community Hall Church. She was a cashier with Wal-mart for twenty years. Mrs. Stamey was the daughter of the late Walter H. Moore and Viola H. Link Moore and was also preceded in death by her husband, Steve L. Stamey. She is survived by her son and spouse: Wayne and Amy Stamey of Norfolk, Virginia; two grandchildren: Lillian Dakota Stamey and Blair Stamey both of Norfolk, Virginia; one sister, Reba Stamey of Cleveland; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Reverend Jeannie Cissom and Reverend Paul Queen officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with a white dove release ceremony concluding the service. Her family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
