Ruby Burns

April 17, 1940 — August 22, 2007

Ruby Lee Burns, 67, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Wednesday, August 22, 2007 at the family residence. She was a member of Southview Baptist Church. She was retired from the Bradley County School System where she served for 23 years in the Lake Forest School cafeteria. Mrs. Burns was the daughter of the late James and Pearlie Standridge and was also preceded in death by her husband, George A. Burns; brothers: Jessie, Paul, Jimmy and John Standridge; brother-in-law, Jack Arp. She is survived by her son: Mike Burns of Delano; daughters and son-in-law: Sheila Turner of Cleveland and Cindy and Ricky Massingill of Chatsworth, GA; five grandchildren: Jason Burns, Shelly Moses, Shannon Burns, Shane Burns and Tanner Massingill; seven great-grandchildren: Kyilen Gillespie, Treaven Moses, Shane McNeely, Gage and Gavin Burns, Jonathan Hunt and Kamden Bullard; one aunt, Katherine Kelly; one uncle, Winfred Gibson both of Cleveland; five sisters and brothers-in-law: Edith and Carl Cartwright of Bolivar,MO, Bessie and JC Chastain of Olitha, KS, Elizabeth Arp and JoAnn Satterfield both of Cleveland, Brenda and Sam Black of Athens, TN; special friends: Dorothy Faye Burns and Rose Sandidge; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Reverend Tommy Marr, Reverend Rob Works and Reverend Jerrell Fowler officiating. Interment will follow in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery with Ronnie Ledford, Fred Burns, Brent Swanson, Joel Cross, Mitchell Cross and Daniel Ledford serving as pallbearers. The service will conclude with a white dove release ceremony. The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. The family requests memorials be made to the Southview Baptist Church Building Fund, 533 13th Street SE, Cleveland, Tennessee 37311.
