John Paul Holt, 86, of Cleveland, passed away Wednesday, September 19, 2007 in a Chattanooga hospital surrounded by his family. He was a loving husband, father and grandpa. He was born in Green County and moved to Cleveland in 1925. He was a man of God who loved his family and loved serving the Lord. He was a faithful member of Fairview Church and was loved by all. He was the son of the late Samuel Anderson Holt and Emma Renner Holt and was also preceded in death by his grandson, Darren Holt; son-in-law, G.C. Park; seven sisters: Ruth Burnette, Dessie Freshour, Hilda Freshour, Verlie Rymer, Parliee Burger, Margie Rymer and Auretis Clayton; three brothers: Silas Holt, Arvell Holt and Luther Holt. Survivors include his beloved wife of 67 years, Thelma Calfee Holt; four sons and daughters-in-law: Willis and Martha Holt, Owen and Arlene Holt, Larry and Glenda Holt; Garry and Barbara Holt: one daughter, Mildred Park; one sister, Mae Caylor of Cleveland; one brother, Raymond Holt of Clearwater, FL; several nieces and nephews; he was a loving grandpa to 14 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 P.M. Saturday in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with the Reverend Otis Daniel officiating. Interment will follow at Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with Roger Holt, Farren Holt, Duane Holt, Eric Holt, Timothy Park and Tony Dietz serving as pallbearers. Gary Baggett will serve as an honorary pallbearer. The service will conclude with a white dove release ceremony. His family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
