Charles W. Goodwin, Jr., 76, a life long resident of McDonald, passed away Saturday, October 20, 2007 at the family residence. He was of the Church of God faith. He was employed with Cumberland Corporation in Chattanooga for 39 years. Mr. Goodwin was the son of the late C.W. Goodwin, Sr. and Sarah Bancroft Goodwin and was also preceded in death by his wife, Willie Ruth Goodwin; sisters: Della Goodwin, Ada Sherlin, Tommy Goodwin and Delphine Goodwin; his brothers: Franklin (Bud) Goodwin, William Goodwin, Flavis Goodwin and Samuel Goodwin. He is survived by his three sons: Charles S. Goodwin, Alvin L. Goodwin and Steven D. Goodwin all of Cleveland; grandchildren: Penny Goodwin, Julie Goodwin, Kevin Goodwin, Erin Goodwin, Steven David Goodwin, Jr.; great-grandchildren: Shelby Goodwin, Chelsey Stamey, Eric Goodwin, Dre Goodwin, Kolby Goodwin and Olivia McDermott; sisters: Hazel Jeffers, Pauline Thompson and Ruby Thomas; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 23, 2007 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Pastor Norman Stallings and Pastor Tony Dunn officiating. Interment will follow in Bancroft Cemetery with a white dove release ceremony concluding the service. Lonnie Jeffers, Kevin Goodwin, Steve Goodwin, Jr., Gerald Sherlin, Jimmy Goodwin and Michael Sherlin will serve as pallbearers.
