Edgar Bascom Fisher

February 22, 1913 — October 27, 2007

Edgar Bascom "Bas" Fisher, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Saturday, October 27, 2007 at the family residence. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Fisher was a well known farmer, grocer and carpenter in Bradley County. He formerly owned and operated Fisher Grocery and later retired from Gibson Discount Center. He was a member of the Cherokee Beagle Club. Mr. Fisher was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Jasper and Zadie Shope Fisher; wife, Rushie McDaris Fisher and brothers, Howard Fisher and Burton Fisher. He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Alene Watson and Cecil of Cleveland, Jo Ann Bass and Randy of The Villages, FL; three grandchildren: Dottie Sneed and husband, Tim of Cleveland, Jeff Watson of Calhoun, Chris Watson and wife, Shelley of Cleveland; five great grandchildren: Emily Anderson and husband, Gerry of Cleveland, Rachel Sneed of Cleveland, Ashley Watson of Calhoun, Laney Watson and Logan Watson of Cleveland; two great great grandchildren, Austin Anderson and Autumn Anderson; brother, Clifton Fisher of Ringgold, GA and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Monday in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with the Reverend James Vaughn, the Reverend Gerry Anderson and the Reverend Lamar Dietz officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Jeff Watson, Chris Watson, Tim Sneed, Randall Fisher, Ralph Fisher and Gerry Anderson serving as pallbearers and C.L. Hall will serve as an honorary pallbearer. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. His family will receive friends from 5 to 9 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, 61 Broadway, New York, NY, 1006.
