Joyce Lawson

September 1, 1925 — November 2, 2007

Joyce Amateen Smith Gibson Lawson went to be with our Lord on Friday, November 2, 2007 in a local hospital. She was born in Englewood, TN on September 1, 1925. She lived in Lexington, Kentucky and Polk County, Tennessee as a child and a teenager. She remained in Cleveland, Tennessee. The joy of her life was being a grandmother. She was a member of Faith Memorial Church. She had worked most of her life and for 42 years she worked for Dixie Foundry and formerly Magic Chef, Maytag and now Whirlpool. Mrs. Lawson was the daughter of the late Harrison Joseph Smith and Willie Jewel Shelton Smith and was also preceded in death by her first husband, PFC Edward R. Gibson; two sisters, Juanita Anna Smith Wade and Johnnie Bob Smith; a niece, Brenda Joyce Wade. She is survived by her daughter, Tammy Jo Brooks Lawson of Cleveland; son and daughter-in-law, Billy Lawson and Angela Rogers Lawson; four grandsons: William J. Taylor Lawson, Michael E. Jordan Lawson, Josh Lawson and Noah Lawson; one granddaughter, Sydney Lawson; ex-husband, Fred Lawson, Jr. (Sonny Bill); niece and husband, Barbara Jean Wade Wilcut and Richard Wilcut; three nephews and spouses: Jerry and Barbara Sue Wade, Joe and Sharon Wade, James and Ruth Ann Wade; six nieces and one great-great-great nephew also survive. A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 6, 2007 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Pastor Ronnie Bishop officiating. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. Her family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
