James T Humbard

April 10, 1926 — November 10, 2007

James T. Humbard, 81, a resident of Bradley County, passed away Saturday, November 10, 2007 in a Chattanooga hospital. Mr. Humbard was a member of Waterville Baptist Church. Before retiring, he was employed for 33 ½ years with Combustion Engineering. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Central Europe in World War II. Mr. Humbard was well known as a great conversationalist and had a great love for his family. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Virginia Howard Humbard in April of this year; parents, Zack Humbard and Callie Hysinger Humbard; brothers, Virgil Humbard, Clyde Humberd; sister, Lela Hampton and three infant sisters. He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn and Larry Green of Hilliard, FL and Marcella and Tony Arp of Cleveland; five grandchildren: Alan Green and wife, Chelanne of Lynchburg, VA, Shonna Dillman and husband, Perry of Yulee, FL, Daniel Green and wife, Kim of Davie, FL; Amanda Arp of Cleveland and David Arp of Harbor City, CA; six great grandchildren: Breanna Green and Alex Green of Lynchburg, VA, Justin Dampier and Kaitlyn Dampier of Yulee, FL, Gregory Green of Davie, FL and Gideon Mantooth of Cleveland; three sisters: Lou Etta Davis and Frances Owenby both of Cleveland and Maybelle Melton of Lenoir City and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 13, 2007 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with the Reverend Allan Lovelace officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with military honors. Frank Reece, Johnny Baker, Lamar Arp, Sammy Parris, Joe Brooks and Alan Green will serve as pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. His family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
