Grover C. "Shorty" Geren, Jr., 87, a life long resident of Cleveland, passed away Thursday, November 29, 2007 in a local hospital. He was a well known painter and paper hanger in Bradley County for over fifty years. He was a member of the Central Church of Christ. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in World War II. Mr. Geren was the son of the late Grover Cleveland Geren, Sr. and Lona Crye Geren and was also preceded in death by his first wife, Juanita Mikel Geren; daughter, Sandra Geren Burke; three grandchildren; siblings, Homer Geren, Joe Geren, Flossie Burnette and Margaret Armour. He is survived by his wife, Pauline Taylor Geren of Cleveland; two children and spouses: Patricia Ann and Bill Ensley and Jerry and Jo Ann Geren all of Cleveland; eleven grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday at the Central Church of Christ with Minister Tom Harrison officiating. Interment will follow in Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with a white dove release ceremony concluding the service. His grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the elders of Central Church of Christ. His family will receive friends from 2-6 p.m. Sunday at Ralph Buckner Funeral Home and also Monday from 10-11 a.m. at the church prior to the service.
