James Robert Strickland, 82, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Sunday, December 23, 2007 in a Chattanooga hospital. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Strickland was employed with Hardwick Stove for 45 years and a newspaper carrier for the Chattanooga Free Press for over 20 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Wynema "Nina" Sewell Strickland; infant twin sons, McKinley Carl Strickland and Marion Harle Strickland and Thomas Lee Strickland; parents, Mack and Cora Strickland; brother, Lorance Strickland. He is survived by four sons: Gene Strickland and wife, Martha, Curtis Strickland and wife, Diane, and David Strickland all of Cleveland and Randy Strickland of Panama City, FL; grandchildren: Charlie Strickland of Decatur, Curtis Ray Strickland, Tonya Michelle Strickland Cawood, Gena Strickland, Sonny Strickland, David Strickland II, Cassie Strickland Scoggins, Brandon Strickland and Alexis Strickland all of Cleveland; great grandchildren: Kayla Piper, Colby Simmons, Tahnie Strickland, Corbin Cawood, Kellye Cawood, Myracle Strickland, Christopher Lee Strickland, Shana Mathis and Miki Mathis Bishop; sisters and brothers-in-law; Edith Liles and husband, Charlie, Louise Galyon and Marion and Donna Humphreys all of Athens; nieces and nephews: Barbara Kyle, Alice Robinson, Brenda Dockins, Glenda Snider, Marcela "Doodles" Chrisma, Bobbie Peeler, Ronnie Humphreys, Linda Nichols, Gail Mondone, Donald Strickland, Caroline Strickland, Mike Strickland and Wayne Strickland. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 27, 2007 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with the Reverend Jimmy Lewis officiating. Interment will follow in the Sewell Family Cemetery in McMinn County. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. His family will receive friends from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, December 26, 2007 at the funeral home.
