John H Gibson

December 30, 1921 — December 23, 2007

John H. Gibson, 85, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Sunday, December 23, 2007 in a local hospital. Mr. Gibson was a Prisoner of War during World War II and received the Purple Heart. He was a member of the American Legion. He was employed by Maytag for 43 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Gibson and Ethel Cooper Gibson; son, Donald Wayne Gibson; brothers, Richard Gibson, Eli Gibson and Marshall Gibson and sister, Susie Warwick. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Ina Mae Gibson of Cleveland; daughter, Janice Ann Gibson Forsythe and husband, Bryan of Cleveland; daughter-in-law, Karen Lee Gibson of Chattanooga; grandson, Zachary Wayne Gibson of Chattanooga; brother, Melvin Gibson and wife, Lois of Cleveland and several nieces and nephews. His family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday, December 26, 2007 at Ralph Buckner Funeral Home. A private graveside service will be conducted following the visitation with military honors. Jim Ruble, Eugene Gibson, Fred Allen, Paul Collins and Jerry Stinnett will serve as pallbearers.
